Lord of the Flies
Chapter 2
“Fire on the Mountain”
Perspective : Piggy
I think this island was a good island before the fire that the other boys set up. The island has many resources, and if used properly, yes, I think it could be a great island and even create our civilization from it.
The Beastie. The Beastie in my opinion represents the savages in all of us. Our true colors. I feel the Beastie was a good way of expressing the young ones feelings. Instead of bluntly saying we're becoming savages, he used a child like way of expressing his feeling, but thats not to say that some will take it the wrong way. Like Jack, he wants to kill the Beastie. That is a complete misinterpretation of the child's point of expression. Jack looks at things inscrutably. Jack can show much compulsion at times.
My plan for being rescued is to, every day, starting in the morning, have a signal fir arising so that if any ship, or airliner, happens to see it, they'll know to radio for help. Of coarse I want to be rescued! Do you think I can sustain my normal diet out here?!?! NO!
We started the fire with my specs. Then the fire spread rapidly, and burned down much of the forest. Not a well thought out plan. But of coarse, it was not my plan! I think Simon can be very contrite .
The little boy with the ½ and ½ face ( Johnny) probably got burned and died in the fire that engulfed the forest. His serrations were quite small.
I feel that I'm more knowledgeable than all the other boys. I could direct them to survive and thrive. I could direct them to build an entire civilization. My glasses are getting very opaque.
Every night when I go to bed, I fear that the elected leaders are completely misleading the group to total destruction and failure at surviving. The worst part about it is, I'm afraid I cant make a deference. I am just a fat side note.
