Segment: Simon and the Lord of the Flies
I find this segment of the chapter very interesting. I find it this way for many reasons. But first I will give a summary of this segment.
Simon stared at the Lord of the Flies. The Lord of the Flies mocking him, saying he's just "a silly little boy". Simon didn't respond.
The Lord of the Flies told Simon that they others thought he was batty. Simon didn't want Ralf to think he was batty, Simon liked Ralf. He didn't want Piggy or Jack. To think he was batty too.
Simon was hypnotized by the demoniac head.
The Lord of the Flies asked Simon “ Aren't you afraid of me?”
Simon was shaking.
Simon was alone with the beast of of head.
Simon muttered, “ Pigs head on a stick”
The Lord of the Flies mocked the boys for thing they could hunt and kill the beast.
Simon knew that they beast wasn't a real beast, but that they were becoming a beast.
The Lord of the Flies told Simon to run off, back to the group and to forget the conversation.
Simon got they feeling of fainting.
The pig head was telling Simon he a silly misguided boy, and he could not escape the Lord of the Flies. He them threatened him to have fun, or else.
I find this segment interesting because Simon's mind is playing a trick on him. The pig is not really talking to him, but his mind it using the pigs head as a figurehead for the beast. The beast is actually the fact that all of them are getting more savage, cruel, and brutal inside. They are reverting away from the idea of being civil, and being more savage, ruthless, cruel, and brutal.
I 'm sure Simon wishes that the mention of the pigs head, was a taboo. The idea of Jack may have been a prefect, and was just not long ago, paunching a pig. I think Jack lacks demure, he brags a lot. He especially bragged when he killed that pig.
Overall good job, I do agree that this was the most intresting part of the chapter, even if i didn't write about it. (I went for the most disturbing part) It was intresting about how the head kinda confirmed what Simon had suspected and I just think that the way Golding did it was very intresting. Do you agree with Simon, that everything that it is telling him, do you think it is true?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you this was a disturbing scene. simon just witnessed the killing of the big and now he is staring at a pigs head on a stick. i would find that very disturbing. It was also interesting that Simon began to illusinate. you could work on some of your grammar but it's small things. So What do you think about Simon do you think he is the best on the island or that he is to weird and sickly and that he should like the pig said just have fun?
